Job Description
Department Overview & Position Summary:
The Shuttle Driver’s primary responsibility is to safely transport passengers along a designated route with specific times, including picking up and transporting them between office locations and parking lots. The driver must maintain a friendly and helpful demeanor, ensure adherence to passenger limits, and perform minor preventative maintenance on vehicles. Additional duties include maintaining records, preparing reports, and performing related work as required.
Reports To: Assistant Vice President, Facilities and Capital Planning
Supervision Exercised: None
Salary: Grade 10, Step I – $1592.69 bi-weekly
Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday
Union: AFSCME college bargaining agreement

Key Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties:
- Operate motor trucks to pick up, transport, and deliver passengers, materials, and equipment to designated locations.
- Operate light motor vehicles to transport passengers or materials.
- Perform minor preventative maintenance on motor vehicles, including checking tire pressure, battery, oil, gas, and water levels.
- Maintain records and prepare reports on vehicle use, mileage, destinations, and accidents.
- Load and unload materials, furniture, equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain safety standards while transporting passengers.
- Contact appropriate individuals for motor vehicle maintenance and/or repair.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Current and valid Massachusetts Class 1 Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of state laws, rules, regulations, and safety practices governing motor vehicle operation.
- Skill in operating motor vehicles such as automobiles, panel trucks, vans, and station wagons.
- Ability to understand and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend English.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and lift and carry heavy objects.
- Demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations and furthering diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects.
- May work varied shifts, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
- May be subject to on-call work status.
- May work in adverse weather conditions.
