Job Description
As a Health Care Aide, your typical day will involve:
- Maintaining resident records and documentation in line with policies, procedures, and legislative requirements.
- Performing medication assistance and care tasks, including:
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Catheter care
- Assistance with range of motion (ROM) exercises and mobility/movement exercises
- Medication assistance/administration (eye drops, eye ointments, inhalers, nebulizers, PRN medication, insulin injections, transdermal patches, rectal suppositories, topical ointments as delegated)
- Monitoring resident well-being as per residence policy.
- Supporting common area cleaning, laundry, and resident care assignments.
- Completing all aspects of resident care as outlined in personal service plans.
- Responding promptly to resident call bells and door alarms, providing courteous service.
- Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must Haves:
- Successful completion of a Care Aid certificate program.
- Medication Certification.
- Current First Aid/CPR training and experience with medication assistance.
- Excellent verbal and written English language skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Successful completion of the Vulnerable Sector Check (Ontario applicants) and Criminal Records
- Check (British Columbia applicants).
Wage and Employment Equity
- Wage Leveling: $29.83 per hour until wage leveling ends, at which point the pay rate will reflect collective agreement pay rates.
