About the Role:
As an Endoscopy Practitioner, you’ll work collaboratively under the guidance of the Endoscopy Nurse in Charge, ensuring patients receive exceptional care throughout their journey, from pre-admission to recovery and discharge. You will support the team in maintaining a safe, efficient unit while meeting CQC and JAG GRS accreditation standards.
Responsibilities:
- Perform clinical tasks and provide training to others.
- Administer intravenous access for sedation patients (once competent).
- Ensure smooth flow of endoscopy procedures following CHEC’s SOPs.
- Prepare clinical areas daily for activities.
- Actively participate in CQC and JAG accreditation processes.
- Provide patient-focused care, ensuring safety and high standards are upheld.
Candidate Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Registered practitioner status with NMC or HCPC.
- At least 1 year of experience as a registered practitioner in Endoscopy services.
- Familiarity with JAG accreditation.
- A passion for high-quality patient care and safety.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Education to degree level or equivalent professional experience.

Skills and Knowledge Needed as an Endoscopy Nurse in the UK
- Expertise in gastroscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and haemorrhoidal banding procedures.
- Proficiency in JAG standards and compliance.
- Excellent patient care and communication skills.
- Strong organizational and teamwork abilities.
Education & Certification Required
- NMC registration or HCPC certification (preferred).
- Degree in nursing or equivalent professional training.
