Responsibilities
Infant and Toddler Care: Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers.
Program Development: Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
Storytelling and Activities: Lead activities by telling or reading stories, teaching songs, and taking children to local points of interest.
Support for Educators: Assist early childhood educators in carrying out programs and keeping records.
Creative Expression: Encourage children to express creativity through art, dramatic play, music, and physical activity.
Guidance: Guide and assist children in the development of proper eating, dressing, and toilet habits.
Meal Preparation: Prepare snacks and arrange rooms or furniture for lunch and rest periods.
Observation and Reporting: Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians, or supervisors.
Collaboration: Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers and community service providers working with children.
Safety and Well-being: Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and well-being of children.
School-age Programs: Plan and organize activities for school-age children in child-care programs before and after regular school hours.
Supervision: Supervise 5-10 people.
Staff Meetings: Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children.
Credentials
Child development assistant (ECE level 1)
Child development supervisor (ECE level 3)
Child development worker (ECE level 2)
Emergency child care first aid and CPR
Experience and Specialization
Target Audience: Children, infants (3 months – 11 months)
Special Needs: Experience with children with physical disabilities, intellectual disabilities, behavioural issues, allergies, asthma, ADHD, or ADD
