Responsibilities
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks for transporting goods and materials
- Oversee vehicle condition and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and manage all vehicle aspects
- Perform preventive maintenance on vehicles
- Relay information to central dispatch and receive updates
- Record cargo details, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption
- Tarp cargo and ensure safety and security of load
Requirements
- Languages: English
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- Experience: Experience is an asset
- Work Setting: Various locations
- Credentials: Class 1 or A Driver’s License
- Documentation Knowledge: Accident or incident reports, bill of lading, driver logbook, inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
- Type of Trucking and Equipment: Dump truck
- Communication Systems Experience: CB radio, GPS, and other navigation equipment
- Transportation/Travel Experience: Local, national, provincial/territorial, regional, short-haul
Additional Information:
- Security and Safety: Driving record check required
- Travel Requirements: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for extended periods
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities:
- Physically demanding tasks, repetitive, long periods of sitting
- Weight handling of up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
