Job Duties
As a Personal Support Worker, you will:
- Provide care and companionship for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, convalescence, or family disruption.
- Administer bedside and personal care, including assistance with ambulation, bathing, personal hygiene, and dressing.
- Plan and prepare meals, including special diets, and assist in feeding clients.
- Perform routine health-related duties, such as changing non-sterile dressings, assisting in medication administration, and collecting specimens under the direction of a home care supervisor or nurse.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties, including laundry, washing dishes, and making beds.
Requirements
- Languages: English
- Education: College, CEGEP, or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years.
- Experience: 1 to less than 7 months.
Physical Demands
- Bending or twisting the body.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Repetitive motions.
- Manual handling of materials.
- Walking and occasional running.
Work Environment
- Indoor, environmentally controlled settings.
- Exposure to biological agents.
- Work in enclosed vehicles or equipment.
- Use of standard safety equipment.
